no twitterAnyone have trouble logging in to your Twitter account today? Thanks to a DOS (Denial Of Service), or DDOS (Distibuted Denial of Service) attack, it was pretty much impossible to login to Twitter this morning, and Facebook also had limited and molasses like function. In fact, I have still not been able to take my turn on Facebook Scrabble yet. Sigh.

Twitter seems to be up and running smoothly now, which is excellent. As part of iMark’s ghost blogging and corporate blogging services, we will tinyurl our blog posts and then post them on Twitter for participating clients (yes I know that you can automate blog updates on Twitter but, for our clients, we prefer manual tweets for now).

For those of you who are worrying if security was breached while Twitter was under attack, DOS attacks do not attempt to access and steal user information, it simply renders a website useless.

Now that Twitter is back up and running, you would think that the Denial Of Service attack would be the top trending topic on the social networking site. When I last logged in, however, it was flipping back and forth from number one to two on the top ten list. So what is DDOS competing with? The answer is the Topic UBERTWITTER. Ubertwitter is a Blackberry app that, much like Twitter this morning, is currently not working.
